Here’s some information on laser cutting and what we can do:

Laser cutting cuts at 90 degrees to the surface. It does not have an angled cut. The kerf (the width of the cut) is .007” wide in thin material and slightly wider in thicker material. It is a clean cut; usually it does not need deburring, except on thick material. We can cut thin sheet steel  (.010” spring steel or shim stock) up to 1” thick mild steel,  up to 3/4” thick stainless steel and up to 1/2” thick aluminum. We also cut brass up to 1/8” thick, but it is usually client supplied material and some details will not work. Contact us for details. Steel that is not cold rolled is pickled and oiled (p&o) so that it has a scale free surface. We can cut up to a 60” by 120” sheet or plate, but since there must be a border, the largest cutout would be 59” by 119”.

We do not have a minimum order. We do not have a set-up fee.  Even if you only need one piece now, I advise that you get prices for cutting 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 pieces so that you can determine your savings in ordering multiples. You may be able to buy several pieces for the same price as just buying one piece.

What we need from you:

We need 1) your drawing with dimensions

                2) the type of material and thickness of material

                3) the quantity of pieces.

Artwork can be sent to us to be scanned into our computer. Dimensions in height and width are very important. Due to distortion we do not use faxes.

You can send us your CAD drawing on a CD or by email in a DXF and/or DWG format. We work in AutoCAD, but other programs can be copied into a DXF format and can then be opened in our programs.  We can also trace from your jpeg files.

Your fully dimensioned drawing will be redrawn into our computer. You will receive through email a pdf file of the dimensioned drawing for your approval before any work is done. Another advantage of AutoCAD drawings is that the same part may be scaled up or down in size, as in the squirrels above.

Pricing:

There is no charge for transferring your drawing into our system. We will give you pricing before you order. Pricing is based on just the material it takes for your parts and the time that it takes to cut them. The price includes laser cutting and material. Shipping and handling is extra.

We require a 50% deposit if you live outside of Pennsylvania, with the balance due in 30 days. You may establish credit with us by filling out our credit report form.

Turn around time is usually one to two weeks depending on our work load. We offer Rush Services: For an additional 15% ($30.00 minimum) charge,

we can have your order ready within 3 business days.

Quality and detail of cut!

As you have seen  in this site, I personally use laser cutting to achieve fine detail, shaping forms and to expedite the forging process. Now you can, too.

From Drawing To Cut Plate!

Different thicknesses of steel with stainless banding adds a 3D effect.

The Company I Work With Is Currently Working With Six Laser Machines.

We Can Run Single Parts Or

Production Runs.

This Can Start From A Rough Sketch To A CAD Drawing.

Not only were the components laser cut before forging, but so were the gates and fencing!
