Mr. McDaniel is an experienced artist and forged metal worker and a highly skilled instructor/demonstrator. He is available for school and conference instruction. His more than twenty-five years of teaching include workshops at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA, Penland School of Crafts, New England School of Metalwork, J.C.Campbell Craft School, Appalachian Center for Crafts, Peters Valley Craft School and for many regional blacksmithing groups. Randy has also been a lecturer/demonstrator for the Artist-Blacksmith Association of North America’s International Conference at Alfred, NY in 1990 and at LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 2002. · 05/17/08 –05/18/08—Blacksmith Guild of Central Maryland

· Carroll County Farm Museum, Westminster, MD

· Randy will be demonstrating hollow forming by hot working in sheet metal and pipe.

· Projects will include hollow forming a bird, a cowboy hat, an ant from pipe, etc.

· Ken Schwarz, Master Smith of Historic Williamsburg will also be demonstrating traditional tomahawks.

· Other demonstrations and events will also be there. Check the BGCM website for more information and registration.

Focus on actual hardware found in Bethlehem. Forging a Shutter Dog, a Slide Bolt and more.

 

 Historic Bethlehem Partnership will be hosting a workshop, Shaping Hot Iron: Blacksmithing in Historic Bethlehem on October 27 and 28, 2007.  We would love for you to join us, as this is an excellent opportunity to see Master Blacksmiths Randy McDaniel and Tom Turtzo as well as a speech by ABANA president Clare Yellin.  The workshop will also feature an iron-in-the-hat, tailgating, as well as a tour of Historic Bethlehem's Gemeinhaus, home to colonial wrought iron work.
